A Bit Of Background About Us
Black Mountain Foods was started in May 1991. Our first delivery was to a retail store in Fontainebleau, Randburg. The order comprised of 10 packets Chicken Wors. Since then a lot has changed.
Today we manufacture over 100 products ranging from deboned and stuffed chicken products, to lamb, beef and ostrich supplied to hotels and caterers across South Africa.
Our products comply with relevant Statutory and regulatory requirements including: SANS 10049:2012, Food Stuffs, cosmetic and disinfectant Act, R918, ISO 22000:2005 HACCP system, ISO 22002-1 PRP system, the Occupational Health and Safety Act 85:1993 and GFSI version6

We as management are committed to produce safe chicken, beef, lamb & venison products which meet and exceed our customer’s expectations and specifications.
We, together with our stakeholders are informed of all requirements or changes to legislation. We are committed to measurable objectives evident in our Food Safety System, this includes customer satisfaction, fewer recalls or number of withdrawals and decrease the occurrences of foreign bodies. Our policy will be communicated to all staff, implemented and maintained to all levels of the organization.

Scope
Management shall ensure that responsibilities are defined and communicated within the organization to ensure the effective operation and maintenance of the FSMS.
Management have committed to implementing a Food Safety Management System (FSMS). We aim for continued improvement in product processes and production. All necessary resources will be made available to ensure correct functioning of the FSMS.
All personnel shall have the responsibility of reporting problems with the FSMS to management. Designated persons shall have defined responsibility and authority to initiate and record actions.
Receiving of raw materials into establishment. Portioning and further processing of all products to company specifications. End products in accordance with customer and company specifications delivered to retail distribution centres and other outlets.
The company aims to implement systems that consistently produces safe foods. Effective communication will be demonstrated in regards to food safety issues to all suppliers and customers.
